China's Never Normal

SAS Virtual Fridays door Pascal Coppens  [9:59]

In this video Pascal Coppens explains how China is more apt to deal with the Never Normal because of how they thrive in an environment that is always changing. Chinese companies have created a new DNA for a long time to survive in the New Normal, and companies in the West will have to start looking at China differently to stay relevant.

China is not innovating because they think it's cool to innovate, like many in Silicon Valley would. They think it's important, because they have so many challenges to tackle. One of them is environment. Think about energy needs. Think about urbanization, overpopulation or things like an aging population. And then you have things like the medical issues, health care, but also food quality, all things we know very well from this coronavirus outbreak now. And all of these problems are a thousand times bigger than most of the countries in the West have to deal with. China knows they can't solve these problems with people anymore. They need technology. So five years ago, China focused on these disruptive technologies.
